Johnny Nix

Johnny Nix, former host the PBS Television Show Campfire Café, will be demonstrating his method of campfire cooking at the National Cornbread Festival in South Pittsburgh, Tennessee April 26-27.

Nix will be conducting his cooking demonstrations on the east end of 2nd Street in South Pittsburg. After preparing mouth-watering recipes in Lodge Cast Iron Camp Dutch Ovens, skillets and griddles, samples will be provided to audience participants.

Nix will share the demonstration area with Doc Stovall, a Cowboy Poet, Cowboy sing and Humorist representing The Booth Western Art Museum in Cartersville, GA.

Nix began cooking over the campfire over 25 years ago while camping and trail riding with friends.  He always welcomes any curious passer by with the phrase “y’all eat yet?”

Nix’s unquestioned command of campfire cooking and southern hospitality make him a welcome cooking demonstrator at events like Equine Affair and Ride with the Stars.  Nix has cooked with numerous country music artists while filming on location at the Jett Williams Ranch, such as Jett Williams, Ray Price, Mark Chestnut, and others. He is also the co-author of the cookbook, “Over the Open Fire.”
