fondo

take a ride through the beautiful Sequatchie Valley and along the Tennessee River.

Race starts 7:00 am Central time

Welcome to the 3rd annual Cornbread Fondo!  We look forward to hosting you again this year with a few improvements in the overall experience that we think you will appreciate.

The ride covers two states, Tennessee and Alabama.  Both routes will cross the Tennessee River two times. Both routes will ascend the famous Ladds Mountain (a regionally famous, short stinger) in the latter miles of the ride for each course.  NEW THIS YEAR:  the long course will have a mountain climb for the first time.  Long-course riders will ascend the famous Sequatchie Mountain Climb.  Iconic and a little painful.  But, one of the best climbs around.  You will be rewarded with a long descent back down to the valley floor.

Each route is fully marked and staffed with SAG stops.  Each route will also have a lead-out vehicle for the entirety of the route as well as a roving SAG for the long course.  Each course will also have a sweep vehicle.

Each participant will receive a Cornbread Fondo T-shirt and two entry tickets to the National Cornbread Festival.  We will also hold a post-ride meal complete with cold beverages and music.

As with previous years, we have a timed king/queen of the mountain segment on Ladds Mountain.  We will also have a timed king/queen of the mountain segment on the Sequatchie Mountain climb.  A prize will be awarded to the top male and female on each KOM/QOM.

NEW THIS YEAR!!  FOR THE FIRST TIME WE WILL PROVIDE A PURSE FOR THE TOP OVERALL MALE AND FEMALE WINNER.  YOU MUST COMPLETE THE LONG COURSE TO QUALIFY FOR THE PURSE.  STAY TUNED FOR DETAILS ON THE PURSE.  REMINDER THAT THIS IS NOT A SANCTIONED RACE.  ROADS ARE NOT CLOSED.  ALL NORMAL RULES OF THE ROAD APPLY.
